Come to Dubai and learn inside the thing.

Cohorts spend a concentrated period at the institute, learning in the net-zero building and the district around it. Sustainable urban development is easier to understand when you can stand in one.

A workshop session at the institute

A week that is mostly not classroom.

Cohorts spend the majority of the programme in the building and the district, with classroom sessions used to consolidate what the site has already taught. It is the difference between studying a case and standing in it.

What the week involves

Classroom work is the smaller half.

The building as case study
Its systems, its performance data and the design decisions behind a renewable surplus rather than a break-even.
The district as field site
Residential blocks, biodomes, water and waste systems, and the residents who live with all of it.
The immersive hall
Augmented and virtual reality sessions covering scenarios that cannot be walked through in person.
Practitioner sessions
Time with the engineers and specialists who built the community, discussing what they would do differently.
A visiting university cohort at the institute

Universities bring cohorts every year.

Partner institutions send student groups as part of their own programmes, which is why the format is built to slot into an existing curriculum, not replace one.

Bring a cohort.

University groups, corporate teams and government delegations all run this. Tell us the group size, the dates and what they need to leave understanding.
